NEW LINK (2025) - Astral Vibes' Acid Memories - Special guest mix by The Cowboys From Sweden (2022)

Back with a new mix!  I had the honor of doing a guest mix for Astral Vibes' excellent NTS radio show called Acid Memories which centers around psychedelia of all persuasions.  Here you'll find a slightly abbreviated trip (60 minutes) through the many faces of 60s and 70s psychedelia.  Spacey melodies, driving explorations in fuzz, trippy folk music, tasty French obscurities, colorful library grooves, over the top pop and beyond.  A nice little musical detour for your ever racing mind.

Originally aired on NTS Radio (London).

Enjoy.

NEW LINK (2025) - The Death of a Candle - Compiled & Mixed by The Cowboys From Sweden (2016)

Here's the latest installment from The Cowboys From Sweden.  The Death of a Candle is a slow dramatic listen loaded with moody soundtrack cuts and rare pop sounds from France, Italy and a few other places.  This mix was conceptualized as sort of a fairytale story and is intended to be listened to with that in mind.  Sort of a movie soundtrack with a plot that you can follow perhaps (Although there isn't one)...  This is possibly the moodiest Cowboys mix to date due to it's slow dreamlike delivery.  Although the focus here is more on moody low key symphonic sounds perhaps, there are still some funky moments here and there.  This mix features quite a few obscure gems from my collection which include Ann Sorel's breathtaking liturgical pop tune "La Prelude... Et La Suite", Aleph's insane "Love Memories", Guido and Maurizio De Angeles' "Penso Se..." television theme, and a few beautiful rarities by Jennifer and Elsa Laurent to name a few. Probably the track that inspired this mix from the beginning was Michel Legrand's "Amour... Amour" from the excellent Peau D'Ane (or Donkey Skin) soundtrack (which happens to actually be a fairytale).  Grab your headphones and go out for a nice long walk, or light a candlestick and watch it burn down!  And don't forget to play it loud!  320 rips with artwork included.  Enjoy!  Thanks for listening.  Comments are appreciated!

NEW LINK (2025) - Christophe - Excusez-Moi Mr. Le Professeur 7" EP (1966)

Oof!  This is a killer early single from Mr. Christophe!  It's hard to find a Christophe song that isn't completely epic.  This EP contains four lush pop songs loaded with orchestral stabs, percussion and Christophe belting out the vocals.  Upbeat highly melodic French pop by one of the best!  Ripped from the original 7", includes cover scans.  Enjoy!

NEW LINK (2025) - France Gall - L'Amérique 7" EP (1965)

Here's a nice four track France Gall EP from 1965.  This one contains a few of my favorite tracks of hers (well, it' hard to pick since she's got so many great songs), but "On Se Ressemble Toi Et Moi" and "Le Temps De La Rentrée" are both killer!  Ripped from the original 7", includes covers...

NEW LINK (2025) - Jane Birkin - Black... White (1980)

Here's a strange promotional pop single that was put out in 1980 by Desk & Feild.  Obviously it's a Jane Birkin single and a very funky one at that.  This single features two versions of a song called "Black... White..." (English and French vocal versions) which was written by Pierre Bachelet and Herve Roy (Emmanuelle OST).  It's a fast paced song with a driving staccato clavichord melody, bass and electric guitars.  Music for ski resorts, should go nicely with a glass of Génépi.  Compliments of BLACK & WHITE Scotch Whiskey.

Ripped from the original 7", includes cover scans.

NEW LINK (2025) - Guy Bonnet - Wladimir Le Musicien (1974)

Guy Bonnet's Wladimir Le Musicien LP is one of the rare holy grails of dignified pop!  Extremely lush arrangements throughout, this album delivers top notch pop/chanson tunes one after the other.  The album also features the notorious Mr. Nabukov track which features heavy breakbeats over dark string arrangements accompanied by a male and female vocal duet.  The album was orchestrated by Karl Heinz Schäfer (Les Gants Blancs Du Diable), so there are plenty of nice Jean-Claude Vannier-esque moments to be found here.  The opening track (which happens to be the title track) Wladimir Le Musicien is one of my favorites.  An extremely ambitious pop tune with extremely groovy verses and an over the top classical piano breakdown at the bridge.  So many great moments on this record, it's hard to mention them all.  Many of the other tracks throughout the album have a nice light baroque-pop feel.  Very catchy, masterfully executed pop with top notch production and musicianship.  Listen for yourselves!  Ripped from the original LP at 320 kbps.  Includes front and back cover scans.  Enjoy.

NEW LINK (2025) - Zeugma - Témoignage/Le Magicien 7" (1978)

Here's a nice rare French rock single by a pretty obscure group called Zeugma.  Honestly I really don't know anything about them really outside of this single (it's their only entry on Discogs), but the tracks here are solid!  The A side is a bit of a proggy rocker that gets into some really bizarro territory with the weirdo fuzz guitar riffs.  A heavy slab of psych for the ones who are into that sort of thing!  The real gold (for me) is the B side on this one with their track Le Magicien.  A beautiful slow burner of a ballad.  Lazy phased guitars driving a great vocal melody over some nice laid back drum breaks.  A real feel-good track.  Ripped from the collection of the Cowboys from Sweden.  I originally intended to include this on the last mix tape "Autumn Moon", but decided I wanted to keep everything in English for that one.  So, here it is for your listening pleasure...  320 rip with cover scans included!  Enjoy.

NEW LINK (2025) - Prince Da Baroda - Que C'est Triste Un Monde Sans Amour/Indira 7" (1970)

Okay, it's been a while since I've posted anything new here.  So here's an obscure little treat for fans of bizarre seven inches.  Here we have a two track single by Prince De Baroda.  I assume he's a real prince, but haven't had much luck finding out anything about him (feel free to fill me in).  Anyway, oddly enough these songs are sung in French and are quite beautiful actually.  On the A side we have "Que C'est Triste Un Monde Sans Amour", an nice melodic ballad actually written by Patricia Carli and on the B side we have "Indira" written by E. Marnay and J.P. Calvet, another pretty love ballad.  The most important thing to point out here is that these tracks were produced by Jean Bouchety who happened to compose one of my favorite KPM lps (The Magic of Bouchety) and a million other things.  So on both tracks we hear that signature Bouchety sound with an obvious eastern flair (sitars, tablas etc.).  But overall this is similar to the typical French pop sound, nice break beats, strings, groovy bass lines.. The works.  I'm not sure what else to say about this one.  I guess if you are aware of it already, I think we'd get along quite well.  This records doesn't exactly appear out of thin air, it took a bit of work to track it down.  So hopefully some of you will enjoy it as well.  320 rip from vinyl.  Include cover scans. Enjoy.

NEW LINK (2025) - The Cardamom Diaries - Compiled & mixed by The Cowboys from Sweden (2014)

It is with great pleasure that I present to you the latest mix by the The Cowboys from Sweden titled "The Cardamom Diaries". An 80 minute non-stop schizophrenic mix of moody widescreen gems, ranging from cerebral jazz funk, to heavy soundtrack and library psychedelia, bombastic vocals, classical overtures, tender themes for romance and other cosmic fantasies... I have spent a lot of time digging and ripping for this one and I feel it one of my favorites so far.  I hope you feel the same.  That's all I will say.  The music will speak volumes on it's own behalf.  Comments are always appreciated.  Thanks for listening and enjoy the new sounds!

Ripped at 320 for your discerning ears.

NEW LINK (2025) - Dani ‎– Ah! Mon Cher Hector (1971)

Here is a pretty rare single from the French singer Dani taken from the film "Qu'est-ce Qui Fait Courir Les Crocodiles".  I know nothing about the film, but I do know that this is one of the best songs I have ever heard!  Side A, that is. "Ah! Mon Cher Hector" is a heavy hitting dark orchestral pop number written by Jean-Claude Vannier (Well, both sides are Vannier compositions actually).  This track features all of my favorite elements of a Vannier production: breaks, orchestral stabs in minor keys, staccato piano and harpsichord riffs, noisy percussion, and of course sexy bass lines and sexy vocals.  This track was already featured on the "Be Quiet" mix by The Cowboys From Sweden, but being the completist that I am, I figured there are some collectors out there who would appreciate a proper rip of this one.  The b-side is your typical zany instrumental Vannier thing.  Hope you enjoy!  320 rip from original 7" (scans included).

NEW LINK (2025) - Promenade Solitaire: Compiled & Mixed by The Cowboys From Sweden (2013)

I am pleased to announce that another brand new mix by The Cowboys From Sweden is complete! The mix is called "Promenade Solitaire", named after an Ennio Morricone track featured in the mix. The title pretty much sums up the feel of this mix perfectly. Themes for solitude, themes for walking alone. This mix has been my company on my daily walks through the park (usually at around sunset or after dark) this whole year. The overall feel is sentimental, lonely, highly classical and sometimes triumphant. There are plenty of obscure tracks to be found here that have been lost over time, so hopefully much of this music is new to you, since I had to dig pretty deep for some of these gems. The mix is dominated by dark classical melodies and lush groovy arrangements from mostly French and Italian composers and pop icons. Lots of big vocals and moody instrumentals that are sure to steal your breath. This might be the moodiest mix by the Cowboys from Sweden to date. I sincerely hope that you enjoy it. I would strongly suggest that you listen to it in headphones while walking alone at night. Perhaps then you will hear what I hear...

Ripped at 320kbps, Artwork included. Comments are very much appreciated. Thanks.
