Hypnotic Sound: A Mix Tape By The Cowboys From Sweden (2009)

New Cowboys mix!! After much time and consideration, I've put together this mix tape that focuses on the more upbeat & danceable side of 60's & 70's Euro pop & soundtrack gems. This is one I've wanted to do for a while now, so I hope you all enjoy it as much as I got a kick out of making it. Two part download ripped at 256 Kbps. Includes front and back full color sleeves designed by yours truly! Burn it! Print it! CDs are retro now, so keep em real! Even better, put it on a cassette tape and give it to your best friend! Comments are appreciated. Thanks for listening.

Hey there - great blog. I always look forward to your latest mixes! Do you happen to know anything of Yannis (Janis?) Spannos? Greek soundtracker... had some tasty stuff from the late 60's early 70's I think, not as tasty stuff into the 80's etc. I've been searching everywhere for his older material. Any leads on this would be greatly appreciated...

keep it up.

deadly.

No, I don't know anything about Yannis Spannos. But I'll look into it and see what I can find.

Thanks man.. his stuff (Spannos) is sampled in the Mr. Flash - Monsieur Sexe release, which is great if you haven't heard it. Lots of old french soundtrack goodness in there. You can grab it at my blog here;

Hey Again Honey Glazed, I know this is a late comment but the album you are looking for I found, and I've seen a lot of other bloggers trying to find it as well. The album sampled on Mr. Flash's "Monsieur Sexe" is Giannis Spanos' "Ekeino to kalokairi". I don't know why it reads unknown artist? He made the mix didn't he? Anyway, I also was looking for that track and I included it on my new mix "In a Cowboy's Mind" which you should check out too. I'm really happy with it. Anyway, you can get the Giannis album at Double-O-Soul's blog. Here's the link: http://my.opera.com/Double%20-O-%20Soul/blog/show.dml/2584325

It's a nice sounding rip too, and there are three versions of the track. So, sorry to keep you in the dark until now on such a great discovery. I hope you get this message.

Hi,
We stumbled on you guys and were bummed to see a lot of your earlier posts of original drone music were no longer available. We've got our own blog of noise and were interested in what you guys were up to. Anything we can so to help get some of it back in circulation?

Which records did you have in mind for me to repost?

We're Late For Class said...

We'll, we were interested in any or all, so it's (obviously) up to you. We just like noise. But, it seems a shame for your original work to be gone when posting it on a reliable uploader will keep it there for eons (or, a while, anyway). We use Sharebee, which is OK, because they throw it up on 4 or 5 different uploaders (including MegaUpload and Rapidshare, which rarely ever go away). Posting it on Rapidshare (in the free Collector's Corner) will practically keep it up for life.

I want to say that Giannis (or Yiannis) Spanos is active musician until now. In Greece, he is considered as one of the greatest musician (pianist, songwriter, soundtracker). He has written marvelous music. ("Ekeino to kalokairi": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aA-8mieCaY0

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeJfw7b_PGE )
Spanos played important role in greek music in the end of '60 and in the beginning of '70. He created a new wave in music of Greece. In last 3 decades he prefer the role of songwriter (but he NEVER writes the lyrics of his songs, only the music). His success was extraordinary.
